History of the Foundation

The WASF was established in November 2012 as a UK limited liability company with financial support from the Government of Benin and the German Cooperation (KFW) and technical support from IUCN.

It is based in Benin, on the basis of a headquarters agreement granting it the status of an international organization, with tax exemption, recognition of public utility, and the right to transfer and invest freely its capital And investment income.

It has obtained the status of “Charity” in the United Kingdom on september 13 th, 2013 under No. 1153809. The Government of Benin and IUCN are its founding members.
